Apple’s VR/AR Headset Unveiled at WWDC23

Mixed-reality headset is Apple’s first new product category since the Apple Watch

WWDC 2023 gave the world a first look at the Vision Pro, a mixed-reality headset that is Apple’s first new tech product since the Apple Watch.

The headset, which was announced at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), is a standalone device that can be used for both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) experiences. It features dual 4K microOLED displays with 5000 nits brightness and 4000 pixels per inch, as well as over a dozen cameras for monitoring facial expressions and hand gestures.

Apple says that the Vision Pro is powered by a new chip called the M2, which is the same chip that powers the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The company says that the M2 provides the headset with enough power to handle even the most demanding VR and AR experiences.

The Vision Pro is expected to be released later this year. Apple has not yet announced pricing for the headset, but it is expected to be priced at around $3,000.
